Horse Riding Lessons

You may wonder why you should take riding lessons?  Well, regardless of whether you are a beginner or a more experienced rider, we all have small faults creep into our riding and by having an instructor, this will allow you to correct them immediately.  It also brings your attention to them and you can then work on any faults at home between lessons.

All new students  whether young or old are assessed on their riding ability, which allows us to design your personalised riding program.  Riding lessons should be  safe and enjoyable and to this end, we endeavour to tailor lessons to suit your experience.

What Will You Learn in your riding lesson?

Our lessons are totally flexible depending on the rider's skills.  It is no use trying to teach a beginner an advanced move, that is why our lessons are tailored to your needs.   Our lessons includes teaching you to be in complete harmony with your horse at all gaits.  As riders become more advanced, they will progress to exercises leading up to the more advanced dressage moves. To increase co-ordination, there are various exercises and activities that  we employ, allowing the rider to relax. Individual attention is given to everyone that rides with us, whether you are in a private lesson or a group lesson.  We believe that is what sets us apart from others.

Horse Riding Lessons Options.

The minimum age for private and group riding lessons is 8 years.

Private Riding Lessons are one-on-one, that is one instructor providing individual tution and one student.

Shared Riding Lesson is designed purely for  2 friends who wish to ride together  for only 1/2 hour and cut down on the costs.   

Group Riding Lessons are usually two or more students of similiar ability, with one instructor.  We find that children often do very well in this type of tuition as not only do they hear from the instructor what they need to do, but they can also see what other children in the group are doing and emulate them.  Group lessons can have up to 6 riders in the group.

If it is needed, we will split group lessons up into both age and experience levels.  That is junior and adult, adult being 15 years and above.  Riders will be graded into beginner, intermediate or competent.  All new group lesson students at Chittering Gully Equestrian Centre must first have an assesment lesson before having a group lesson. Chittering Gully conducts all its lessons in our full size arena, however, there may be occasions when lessons will be held in the adjacent work area.

Discounted Riding Lessons of 8 lessons are offered to serious riders.  These lessons are offered at a discount and must be paid for in advance for the whole 8 weeks.  These block lessons will have precedence for day and time allocations over casual weekly lessons.  You may pay below, however, please ring us to ascertain your time and day you prefer.

Horse Riding Lesson Bookings.

All horse riding lessons must be booked in advance.  This can be done by  telephoning us on  (02) 6888 1290     Mon - Fri  Phone will be answered courteously up until 9.00 p.m.  If you need to cancel, then please pay us the courtesy of giving us 48 hours notice.

Please when ringing, ask us for your Riding Lesson and Waiver information pack. We will be happy to email them to you, or give you the download link.

On the day of your lesson be sure to arrive with plenty of time to process your paperwork, unless you have already done it beforehand. There will be someone there to help you fill it out before riding in the arena. 

All riders must have the correct  ASA helmets.  Hats and boots are  compulsory for all riders.    No helmets or boots............. no riding.
